Food For Thought

Facing reality.......

A coup d’état is usually brought about by people who are convinced that they cannot acquire power through democratic means and / or those whose vital interests are mightily threatened without power .

Prayer

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

All praise be to Thee, Oh! Allah! For Thou art the Lord of the Universe. We thank Thee, for Thou hast been kind to us, and showered us with Thy mercy and gifts. Thou hast brought the whole universe and us into being out of nothing. Thou hast made our difficult journeys bearable and looked upon us in Kindness. Thou hast been with us in our hour of need and guided us when we have strayed. For all this and more, we thank Thee, for without Thine love, we would have perished into nothingness.

Oh! Allah! Thou art Great and Thou Knowest Best. We can only hope to do the right thing and seek Thy Guidance. Thou who hast no beginning and no end. Thou who needs no one and is self sufficient, but without whose blessings we can achieve nothing. Thou who is no offspring of another nor begets an offspring. Thou who is Pureness itself.

May Thy eternal Peace and Blessings be on Mohamed, Thine slave and messenger, and those who followed him and follow him.

Oh! Allah! Only you can save us from the clutches of the madness we find ourselves in. Please save us from this madness and protect us from harm, for Thou art the best of Protectors. Give us the strength, oh! Allah, to stand steadfast against evil, and to triumph over those who seek to oppress us. Purify our hearts and minds, and fill us with peace as we struggle against oppression. Thou hast promised us that Good will Triumph over Evil. Oh! Allah! The day of reckoning is nigh, and please be with us on that day. Do not let us sink into the depths of despair. Thou knowest best what is in our hearts. We seek no mischief, and we only seek to bring in justice amongst us. To clean our society from unjustness and cruelty. To live our lives with freedom. To bring to an end an era of hedonism and oppression.

Oh! Allah! Help us to do what is right and to steer our country in Thine favoured direction.

Allah Almighty! Guide the hearts and minds of our fellow country men and women to see what is right. Let them not be blind on this coming day of reckoning. Give them the courage to do the right thing. Strengthen our resolve to continue our fight against evil. Guide us to Thy Path which is the best of all.

Merciful Allah! Forgive us our sins which we have committed and forgive us for our erroneous ways. Include us among those who have Thine favour on the Day of Judgment and have Mercy on us in our graves.

May Thy Blessings and Peace be upon Mohamed, Thine Messenger, and Praise be to Thee. Amen!

  5. Aisha :

The Prosecutor General is supposed to be an Independent person and he has many powers at his discretion. I understand that he is still struggling to organise his office, recruit appropriately trained people and generally setting up shop. Hence he has difficulties in speedy processing of cases forwarded to his office.

I must say that the very quick processing of Anni's case did surprise me as well, when all other cases were on hold.

I really do believe in the integrity of the PG, and I deeply respect the impartiality he has displayed in discharging his profeesional duties. Terefore I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

In any case, I believe that MP's and other political figures should leave Independent Commissions, the PG and the AG to do their jobs without interference. But I will be watching for untoward, biased behaviour from all of them to discharge MY duty, which is to hold them accountable if they do so.

If you want to reach me privately, you can send me email on ibramandhu@gmail.com, or alternatively call my secretary on 3322155.

I am with you and the reform movement from the beginning.May god bless our struggle for freedom and democracy.

I was much annoyed after seeing the degrading comments made by Minister Nasheed on DRP hijacked State Media.

I was also touched after reading your article about retirement and going back to academia.I was emotionally moved by the decision.Having seen the typical respect we give to a person who have succeeded with a very high standard of academic and professional achievement locally and abroad, the pathos of a reformist in a dictatorship .

It could have been a good decision, but I disagree. You have been showing the light through the tunnel to a society which has been kept in the jungle by a brutal dictator for years. We have seen your struggle for democracy after leaving your dreams and other commitments . I could have digested if this has come through any person from the ingnorant public but from him ..

Minister Nasheed was perhaps the last card to play to create skepticism about MDP Ithihad. His speech was based on few points on baseless facts and of poor quality, the very quality he has produced during the making of the constitution.Perhaps he was jealous of your huge contribution towards the constitution.

Fortunately he has prevented the people from getting a better constitution by being the impediment rather than the change and this we see as the main reason for this type of malicious comments.

We need teachers like you , trainers like you , people who love democracy , people who can talk truth with strong conviction and authority , people who can take the lead in wartime to fight for a democratic constitution from those who hate democracy, people whom we can trust..people who have clear corruption records...

Stay in MLC and develop our future leaders or stay in the parliament and educate our public. I endorse you as a person who is more innovative ,having the potential to undertake huge academic and administrative tasks..a person more capable than those who hate democracy, even with your disability [ with apologies ]for the higest seat in the country.

I have achieved a degree from the fish market, i only have to tell him a tamil saying - katrathu kaiman alavu, kallathathu Ulagalavu

[ what you know is the size of a mustard seed , what you do not know is the size of the earth ], you better stay at home even if Maumoon wins as you always have deceived the public..
